I'm an EL Monte police officer. I'm chasing a fugitive through the streets of East LA. Helicopters fly overhead, broadcasting every moment live on local news stations. The guy stops. He's lying on the ground, hands behind his back. No longer threatening violence. I'm the first one on the scene.
Should I...
A) Point my gun, tell him to stay down, and wait for backup (which, clearly, is only seconds away)?
B) Kick the guy in the head?
Obviously B is not the correct choice, but surprise, surprise, B is what this asshole chose. Watch the video. See for yourself, and tell me: did we learn NOTHING from Rodney king?
