The L.A. Times is reporting that the Motion Picture and Television Fund home in Woodland Hills will be closing it's doors by the end of the year.
Funded almost entirely by entertainment industry donations, the Motion Picture hospital was a place for aged and ailing entertainers to call home. A dear friend of my family lived there when I was a teen, and I visited once or twice. As far as these places go, it was rather lively- full of characters and famous names.
It's pretty sad when even the entertainment industry can't cop up a few mill to save their own.
